Halal journal Article Writing and Editing Guide

The article must be in Persian and the result of the research of the author or authors, and its full text must not have been previously published or presented in any other journal or publication, it also must not be under review in other publications. Authors are required to submit their articles electronically to http://jh-per.halal.ac.ir/contacts .

Original Research Articles: These articles are the results of the author(s) research findings, including abstract, introduction, working method, findings, discussion, conclusion, thanks and appreciation, conflict of interest, references, abstract in English and references.

Review Articles: Abstract of the review article must not include materials and methods and must include background, purpose, findings and conclusions.

Short Article: A short article is to publish the results of a small intervention or to present details of new models or hypotheses, new methods and new techniques. These types of articles are similar in structure to original research articles.

Case Report: These articles include exceptional cases with educational and research aspects, of which a maximum of one is published in each issue.

Letter to Editor: These articles are published in its original form or in connection with articles or articles in the journal along with the author's response.

Preparation of Manuscripts:

  1. The principles of Persian writing should be noted.
  2. In the manuscript, the use of Latin words that have understandable Persian equivalents, should be avoided. After using the Persian equivalent, it is better to put the Latin word in parentheses.
  3. Photos should be sent as separate files of JPEG or GIF type and diagrams should be designed in Excel software. The submitted images must be in high quality in JPEG or TIF format.
  4. The article must in DOC and DOCX format, using B-Nazanin font, titles with font-size 14 and with a text font-size of 12 and the abstract font-size 11, footnote font-size 10, and references font-size 10. For English texts Times New Roman font-size 10.

The article should include the following sections:

Title, Abstract (Persian and English), Keywords, Introduction, Methods, Findings, Discussion, Conclusion and results, Acknowledgment (Optional), Conflict of Interest, Resources, Appendix (Optional).

1- The title page: Includes the full title of the article in Persian and English, the name and highest academic degree of the author or authors in order of priority, the name of the department or institution workplace and the designation of the corresponding author are given separately on one page and should be set and sent as follows:

  • The title should be concise and contain enough information about the article.
  • Under the title of the article, write the full name of each author and all affiliations with a number immediately after the author's name, as well as mentioning that number before the organizational affiliation.
  • The corresponding Author must be identified by an asterisk (*).
  • The name of the corresponding author includes the full postal address, office phone and fax number, academic email address of the corresponding author. The information of the corresponding author must be up to date.
  • It is necessary for the authors' information to be written in both Persian and English.

2-Abstract: The Persian and English abstracts must be structured and be written in fluent language and reflect the content of the article. The components of the abstract are:

  • Introduction
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Conclusion

*References must be excluded in the abstract, and unusual and non-standard abbreviations should not be used, but, if necessary, use should be defined at the first appearance.

  • In the abstract of review articles exclude methods.
  • Case report articles include unorganized abstracts, keywords, introduction, case report and discussion

3- Key words: Keywords contain 3 to 6 keywords that are given at the end of Persian and English abstracts.

4- Introduction: The introduction includes the description and expression of the problem, the importance and value of the topic, the objectives of the research, and after reading the introduction, the reader becomes familiar with the topics and what is to be encountered in the article.

5- Materials and Methods: Includes the type of the study, how to select samples and control them, fully explaining of the methodology, laboratory materials and tools, data collection tools, data analysis methods and ethical considerations.

  • If the study is a clinical trial, the registration number at www.irct.ir and the ethics license should be mentioned in the first paragraph of this section.
  • If the article is taken from a research project, the verification code of the ethics committee of the relevant university or organization should be mentioned. If the article is the result of a student dissertation, the details of the dissertation should be mentioned.
  • If special equipment and devices are used, the name and address of the manufacturer of the device or equipment should be mentioned in parentheses.
  • If a method has been used before, cite the source of the method.
  • If a method is used for the first time, provide sufficient information about that method for researchers to use.
  • In cases where drugs have been used, it is necessary to mention the generic name, dose and method of administration.
  • At the request of the magazine, the software used should also be mentioned. Otherwise, there is no need to specify it.

6- Findings: Findings should be in the form of text, tables, graphs or images presented in order in the text. Data in the table should not be repeated in the text. It is necessary to give the tables address in the text. The original diagrams and curves should be set in Persian. Write the titles of the tables at the top and the titles of the figures and diagrams at the bottom. The number of figures and tables should not exceed 5 in total.

7- Conclusion: The main findings of the study are described and summarized.

8- Acknowledgments: Acknowledgment of those who have assisted the authors physically and morally (technical assistance, writing, etc.). The reason for acknowledgment and the role which they played should be mentioned briefly whenever possible.

9- Conflict of interest: Authors should clearly state any potential conflicts of interest, such as receiving money for the article, or gaining inventory or shares that may be gained or lost through the publication of the article. If there are no conflict of interests between the authors the following sentence should be added to the end of the article:

"The results of this study do not conflict with the interests of authors and researchers."

10- References:  The form of references and sources must be in Vancouver method. The used references must be numbered in the order of their use in the text. the number of references must be mentioned in the text, starting from the number one and adding to it in order. The number of mentioned sources should be the same as the sources used in the text.

  • Indicative sources such as the Quran and Nahj al-Balaghah are listed as footnotes on the relevant page.
  • Translate Persian and Arabic sources into English and write the words [In Persian] and [In Arabic] at the end.
  • Mention the DOI code for article references, if there are any.

Magazine:

1. Asgary S, Eghbal MJ, Parirokh M, Ghoddusi J, Kheirieh S, Brink F. Comparison of mineral trioxide aggregate's composition with Portland cements and a new endodontic cement. J Endod. 2009; 35 (4): 243-250.

Book:

  • Up to six authors: Last Name first letter of name. Book title. Printing number. Place of publication: Publisher; Year: Number of pages. (Writers’ names are separated by commas)
  • More than six authors: After the name of the sixth author comes the comma sign and then et al. is written. The rest of the bibliographic information is arranged as above.
  • A chapter of the book: Surname first letter of the name of the chapter’s author. Chapter title. In: Surname first letter of name of the editor then editor. is written. Book title. Printing number. Place of publication: Publisher; Year. Page. Number of pages.

Internet Resources: Web pages and E-books:

  • At least, the full website address (URL) must be provided. Providing the reference with the date of the last update is preferable.
  • It is better to mention more information if available (DOI, authors' names, dates, citation source, etc.).
  • Do not cite Wikipedia / Wikimedia as a reference or source.

Signs and abbreviations:

Use standard acronyms instead of full words, all unconventional acronyms, when used for the first time, must be fully defined within the text. (Avoid using abbreviations in the title and abstract).

Final Confirmation: A copy of the final article ((galley proof)) will be sent to the corresponding author in order to resolve any objections before publication, and errors must be reported to the journal office within 48 hours.
