Abstract

Collagen is known to be a useful biocompatible material. Excellent biocompatibility, biological properties such as biodegradability and immunity make collagen a reliable source for medical applications. In university laboratories, they produce collagen from a variety of sources in order to be suitable for research work, but in the field of manufacturing a functional product that can be used in the medical industry and so on, the subject is quite different. The first issue is the animal source of collagen production that must be considered. In addition to the quality of the collagen and its cost-effectiveness, the way that the animal is caught and slaughtered, and the permissiblity of its meat are so important. Also, since the production of collagen is for medical use, the production process must meet the required standards. Nowandish Aafaq Company has been successful in producing Halal collagen with utilizing experienced personnel as well as passing various stages of research and a lot of tests. This paper has tried to examine the material of collagen, its characteristics, challenges and requirements of its production.
