Abstract

Iron is a very important mineral for health. The role of Iron in the biological processes of our body is vital and undeniable, and the use of it in the diet and drug supplements of pregnant women can have a special effect on maintaining their health and well-being. It comes from some Islamic rules such as "necessity of prevention of probable harm" and "the necessity between the rule of reason and the rule  of the shari'a". In order to develop  Islamic laws and jurisprudence, it is necessary to consider the views of medical practitioners as well as Islamic scholars. But on the other hand, some  recommend not to use iron tabletspeaple ,based on traditional medicine, which can lead to a deficiency of this vital ingredient in pregnant women. Therefor, it causes irreparable harm such as neonatal death, Low birth weight (LBW) and neonatal diseases such as autism. So, according to the reason and Shari'a, the consumption of the Iron is sufficient for pregnant women, otherwise they  will face physical and psychological disturbances. This paper has tried to explain the permissiblity of the use of Iron by pregnant women from the Islamic point of view by using the verses and narrations of the infallibles.
