Halal tourism, as one of the important branches of the global tourism industry, requires a deep analysis of theoretical foundations and the presentation of a local model from the perspective of Islamic-Iranian culture. Halal tourism has theoretical foundations and specific criteria in Islamic rules and ethics, and has specific rules in all dimensions of tourism, including doctrinal, social and cultural, economic, functional, legal and environmental dimensions. In contemporary tourism, tourism spaces have numerous issues in terms of Islamic rules and ethics, including non-halal foods and snacks, wastefulness, consumerism and eye for an eye, environmental destruction and non-halal lifestyle. This research, which has been conducted with a qualitative approach and a descriptive-analytical method, extracts the dos and don'ts of halal tourism from the perspective of Islamic rules and ethics derived from Shiite principles and using verses of the Holy Quran, narrations of the Infallibles (AS), especially from authentic Shiite hadith books, and the opinions of Imamiyya jurists. The findings of the study indicate that halal tourism is a comprehensive ethical-jurisprudential system that goes beyond observing individual rules, covering all aspects of travel, including food and drink, clothing, social relationships, entertainment, interaction with the environment, and etiquette in public and virtual spaces. The most important challenges identified in contemporary Iranian tourism are issues such as extravagance, the presence of forbidden and questionable foods, failure to observe religious limits in mixing and dressing, environmental destruction, and promotion of unhealthy lifestyles.
